This Privacy Policy outlines the way the Med Minds Psychotherapy website (https://medminds.co.uk) handles data as defined by General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.  For us to provide our service to the highest professional standard, Med Minds Psychotherapy holds certain data of its clients.

We currently collect and process the following information

Med Minds Psychotherapy currently collects and processes personal information of its clients such as name, date of birth, contact details, session payments, health and medical information, or condition history.  We do not require bank or credit card details.  All payments to Med Minds Psychotherapy are made by bank transfer directly into its business bank account.

How we collect your personal information and why we have it

We compile personal information directly from our clients in order for Med Minds Psychotherapy to deliver an ethical, efficient, safe and professional psychotherapy service.  We make sure that only the minimum necessary data is acquired to provide our service.  Under GDPR, a ‘Legitimate Interest’ is the lawful basis upon which we rely for processing such information.

All information gathered remains confidential within Med Minds Psychotherapy.  It is possible that there could be some exceptions when confidentiality may need to be breached.  These can be explained to you by our therapist before you engage in active therapy with Med Minds Psychotherapy.

Such exceptions include:

  • When there is concern of a significant threat of harm to the client or any another individual.
  • Disclosure of a concerning act.
  • Therapist’s notes are called upon by a Court of Law.
  • Disclosure of a client’s case in a clinical supervision environment using anonymised data (this is important for therapeutic development as a means to quality assuring our therapies and maintain best practice deliverables)

Retention of data

In accordance with relevant data protection legislation, we will not retain a client’s information for longer than is necessary for the purposes listed above and to deal with any complaint or dispute our client may have.  If you require further information about our information retention policies, please contact us.

Your rights

Clients have the right to view the information we hold about them and ask for changes to be made, which can be provided within one month of request without charge.  Please contact us if you wish to make such a request.  At any time, a client has the right to object to us processing and holding their data.  This may result in us being unable to provide our service. You also have the right to withdraw consent.  However, this will not affect the lawful processing and retention of information based on prior consent, and for legal reasons it may not be possible to comply with a request to delete data already held.

How we store your information

Med Minds Psychotherapy may collect client information from our website through enquiry forms, registration forms, assessment questionnaires and cookies (please see our cookie policy below).  We may also collect information from our client via social-media, for example, from WhatsApp or LinkedIn.  We collect information from clients through telephone calls or video conferencing, which sessions may be recorded.  We also collect information provided by a client during therapy consultations.

Updates

Any changes to our Privacy Policy or Cookie Policy will be updated on our website, with subsequent version numbers given at the bottom of the page.
